First there was the selection of a novice sweater pattern , then the anticipation of the yarn shopping trip before I could do as much as cast on a single stitch.
Noro Silk Garden: Colour 228 for Klaralund by Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton
Then learning to block and sew up the body seams all while keeping my fingers crossed that the thing actually fits me.
Now I am waiting waiting as patiently as I can for the sleeves to finish drying so I can sew them up and attach them
I might have a finished sweater to show you soon. If my boys can bring themselves to stop squabbling or getting up to feats of impending mortal danger for 5 minutes.
On the other hand, my idea of shortening the sleeves to three quarter length might totally backfire, in which case we'll see how good my ripping out and re-doing is.
You, missy, are one talented lady - that looks absolutely gorgeous - I can't wait to see the finished jumper.
I find inviting an extra child round works pretty well at heading off the fights - but it only works if some other kind soul is willing to lend their child of course.

It's looking great! 3/4 sleeves sound just great for early spring!

You are turning into one helluver knitter! That yarn is wonderful! I never knit myself anything to wear, maybe I should consider it...

Looks absolutely beautiful - I like the sound of the three quarter length sleeves - I bet they'll look great. Glad to hear that Johnny had a lovely birthday but not so good that Mark did a bit of stunt scooting - hope he's ok today and not too sore.

Are you seriously trying to tell me that you have gone straight from sock to jumper! And I was giving you tips, the shame!! I am terribly impressed, it looks great!

It looks gorgeous! I'm very impressed (and very envious of your figure too!) Hope the children sort themselves out and let you get it sewn up! Lucy x

looking very good, love the yarn.
Glad to hear your 2 boys are behaving like mine... I have called in re-inforcements tomorrow (another 6 year old boy for the afternoon), I'm working on the assumption that they'll be nicer with an audience... of course, the big 2 will probably just gang up on the youngest.

WOW!(if only i could make those 3 little letters 6ft high and flashing neon lights you'd have a WOW as impressed as i am!
Does that make any sense!!! Plain old typeface doesn't suit the WOW for THAT jumper effort!

Cor. You've overtaken me in the knitting stakes now, that's for sure! Gorgeous colours.

I'm in love with your yarn! Your sweater looks gorgeous and the idea of the 3/4 sleeves will work fine, I think. I can hardly wait to see the whole sweater. What a wonderful job you've done!

That's very, very cool, Ali. I'm so impressed. With the yarn (gorgeous)... with the sweater (darling)... with your patience...

Oh My! What a fab sweater, the yarn in gorgeous.
If my two behave tomorrow as grumpily as they did today I'm going to lock myself in the shed with a good book!

I cannot believe you've done all that in so short a time, and so beautifully. You're a knit star. Truly, I'm in awe.
At least I can console myself that I have perfect children who never misbehave. It's not as good as being a knit star though.

Wow - that sweater looks gorgeous, and I love the colours. I was thinking my knitting exploits were going well (one baby cape done, one more on the way) and I bought Kim Hargreaves book Heartfelt the other day (http://www.kimhargreaves.co.uk/acatalog/Heartfelt.html) so am desperate to have a go at something from that. You have inspired me to give something more challenging a go!

I'm so impressed by anybody who can knit a whole sweater, I can just about manage a long tube like french knitting type thing, completely useless!
I'm glad this is not the only household where children just don't get the "sit down and play quietly" request, they just look at me blankly and carry on shooting each other, and one of them's a girl - what 's a mother to do??
Julia xx
ps. actually I'm quite pleased my girl isn't a ballet, pink type of girl!

Wow - it looks really good (great colour choice too). Can't wait to see how it will turn out especially with shorter sleeves.

Ali!!!! It's GORGEOUS!!! I'm so completely impressed and the colours - wow!! I can't wait to see the finished piece and three quarter sleeves will be just perfect! Well done!!!

Clever, clever Ali. What lovely wool and such a good fit. I must admire from afar because I have never been patient enough to knit a jumper for myself.

It looks delightful! Love the way the colours turned out :)
I'll watch your boys for a few minutes for you, because we all can't wait to see the finished product.

didn't you just learn to knit?! amazing!

Supa dupa sweater so far. I'm sure it will turn out gorgeous. You've inspired me, I may just pick up one of my UFOs and actually finish it.

I love the colors, it's beautiful. I used to not like 3/4 sleeves but now I'm a convert, they stay out of the way !

Wow it looks fantastic. The wool is beautiful. I'm not a fan of three quarter sleeves myself. I'd stick to long sleeves ~ Julia x
