Somehow, ordering our Christmas Turkey today seemed strangely appropriate - probably at around the time that many of our American chums are tucking into theirs. There's a great farm near us that raises them from little chicks - they are free range and taste spectacular. Their turkeys are also really friendly and curious birds and rush up to the fence gobble gobble-ing if you walk by.
One year, I had the boys with me when I went to place our order and we went across to commune with the flock. Johnny looked at me very seriously and enquired how we were going to catch the one we wanted.
Takes pick-your-own to a whole new dimension!
Happy Thanksgiving, if you're eating yours today.
