When I read Emma's post about cheering ourselves though the dark months with a colourful little project, I knew joining in would be pleasureable.
Today, I feel it doubly. Because the clocks have changed and even by 4 o'clock the light had flattened out, leaving everything slightly muted. Which is how winter always seems, to me.
Sometimes, it feels right to embrace that - to hunker down and be content with the glow of candles and tungsten light (but never low energy bulbs, which I will loathe until my final breath).
But some days, winter and it's flat greyness makes me want to scream and on those days, perhaps a blast of colour is just the ticket.
C'mon winter - you don't scare us.
Emma's got all the details if you feel like joining in too.

We have another week before the light changes here...I just get through this dark time of year by cozying up and counting down until the holidays!

Your lightbulb comment - I couldn't agree more!
Love the photo.

This image continues to make me smile. Now to wrestle more with mosaics. I may be some time.

Your lanterns are fantastic.

My father-in-law is buying up and hoarding proper lightbulbs and kindly sharing his stash with me. He is confident he has enough to see us through another twenty years at least. I can't bear the low-energy ones - so depressing whatever the time of year.

I'm waiting for the low energy lightbulbs to be made better somehow--less depressing, less like the light in a subway station.
A colorful winter project is a wonderful idea. We lose our light next week. I'm fine with it until the end of January (the darkness and drear suits the holidays, with all the festive lights of the season), and then I slump. A little colorful something might just do the trick!
