Dithering isn't really me. Ask me what I think about something and generally I have an opinion. I usually have a plan for how I'd like to spend my time. But one of the most difficult adjustments required to become a mother, is taking on the huge increase in volume of day to day decisions you are required to make on behalf of your family. And not least of these is the ongoing question of what to feed them (again).
Not that my lot are particularly difficult to cater for, but it's never-ending. Eat, eat, eat. So easy to slip into the same old repetitive cycle of shopping for and cooking identikit meals. It's dull though. And sometimes, when you are stuck in a bit of a rut, what you really need is someone to come along and take over the decision making, in a sweetly bossy fashion.
And in my case it was Delia, who spoke to me from the pages of the Waitrose weekend freeebie paper and ordered me to pull my socks up,buy rhubarb and make brulee.
She's bossy, but she was right - it was very good. Recipe link is here. I think I may pick up another copy and let her tell me what to cook next weekend too.
And if anyone wants to tell me what to make for supper tomorrow, I'm all ears.
