that made me smile! when it was loading i thought it was going to be a heart. reminds me of the childhood thrill of finding chestnuts and unwrapping their spiky case to find the shiny brown nuggets!

Thank you. That made me laugh when I saw it.
And it might inspire my children to do something with all the lovely shiny conkers they collect. Every year we have bags of them and every year they stay in the bags and go mouldy.

Awwww. We picked up bagsful of conkers last weekend. They're now scattered all over the house and I expect I'll still be finding them next spring!

Your fall color week (I mean "colour" ~ I don't know why in the world we americans dropped your wonderful "u") has hurtled me full speed into autumn. I've been waiting for this season every single day since March. We just got our first cool front this week ~ with rain! and I've been rushing outside every few minutes just to feel autumn in the air. Here in Austin, we do not get "real" autumn, but I love every shadowy tint of antique gold and faded red and hazy orange. It all looms brilliant in my autumnal soul! xo Kari

You found a good deal more conkers than we did.

It's in the hundreds AND we don't get conkers. I'm trying to explain to my kids that other places have seasons. I miss Autumn.

a bumper year for conkers! I was also told yesterday that they also work as brilliant moth balls too.
