On my windowsill you can find...
Monica asked, so I thought I'd show you.
I have 3 windows in my kitchen. Lots of sill. Lots of junk. Lots of spiky plants - I'm sure that's not good feng shui.
Window 1. The metal gizmo is the blade from my stick blender. And the figure is hubby's wizard. I don't really like him - he stares at my kitchen slovenliness in a horrified way and it really ticks me off.
Although, seeing this junk on Windowsill number 2, I appreciate his expression may have a point. Yeast from my last baking session, leaf gelatine used last week, garlic pot (with broken top) and aquilegia seeds in an envelope harvested last Autumn. Note to self - put tidy kitchen on the 'to-do' list.
Bananas live here semi-permanently, because I heard you mustn't keep them with other fruit as the ethylene they release makes other fruit go off faster. Spiky plant number 3.
This is the third windowsill that, in theory, holds the frequently changing, tastefully grouped, seasonal display. Ha ha ha ha ha (barely concealed hysteria). I suppose conkers ARE seasonal (just not this season). And the recent Johnny-art is at least of the moment.
Sometimes, taking photos of things really makes you see them. Time to haul myself away from the screen, head for the aforementioned kitchen and do some clearing up. In my next life, I'd like to come back as an obsessively tidy person. Preferably with a cleaning lady.

I love windowsill in the kitchen filled with lovely stuff like yours...Love the cacti!

I'd ditch with obsessively tidy and just stick with the cleaning lady. And cook, so that I only have to head into the kitchen when I'm in the mood. Add gardener and personal assistant to the list too.
I just realised that what we both need is a wife.

I can't help it - as much as I resolve to do something about it I am just a clutter magnet - I like to think it is warm, inviting, comforting clutter.
Much like your kitchen window sills.
Except for that wizard.

If you were obsessively tidy with clear windowsills you would have nothing to blog about and that would be very boring. If you want to get a sample of life with clear windowsills go and spend the afternoon in a showhome - I am sure that will cure you.

Perhaps you could turn the wizard round so he looks out of the window instead??
Mine is full of leggy seedlings and cobwebs!

mine is tidy because the kitchen is about one week old.
Give me a couple a weeks...

Ooh how I would love to be obsessively tidy!

Your windowsills don't look that bad to me! My kitchen one is currently crammed with a motley selection of half dead orchids and lots of spindly seedlings.....and a dead fly!
I can't imagine being obsessively tidy....which probably explains an awful lot!!!
Maybe your wizard is what's stopping your windowsills being clear of clutter?
My picture of The Kitchen God that Monster coloured in for me 5 years ago fluttered down off the front of the cupboard yesterday.
Do you think it's an omen?

Windowsill 'stuff' makes a house a home.
I am a tidy person in most areas of my home except the kitchen windowsill...and my desk...and my kitchen table (always full of piles of other stuff!)

I think your windowsills look fine! I only have two - one is full of kiddie painted plates and cups that attract the kind of greasy dust that only happens in a kitchen (or is that just me?) and the other has my faithful radio, some half dead cress and a pot of paintbrushes. And a dent from the pestle (or mortar?) that fell of the overcrowded bookshelf and bashed it.
(there is a song currently playing on CBeebies about tidying up ...)

On mine sits a santa whose leg has been broken since 2005. It is waiting for some glue... maybe this year it will be lucky.

We only have three windowsills in our entire house, probably just as well because iy would be another place for me to collect treasure (junk)! Yours look just fine to me.

Yep, the kitchen window sill - bane of my life! And as far as taking everything off to clean the window behind.......well, as you can imagine it's a rare occurence! Glad to see I'm in good company ( the sill, not the dirty windows I hasten to add!)

You are so right about noticing little details when you're taking photographs. Sometimes we look at things so often, we actually don't see them after awhile. I agree with another one of your commenters, you could turn the disapproving wizard around and let him look out the window.

Yep, it's true about the bananas. Good job you can;t see my windowsills, chuckle

when your cleaning lady from your future life has finished cleaning your window sills, will you send her round to do mine!

staring at my bananas as they sit snuggled up against the apples in the fruit bowl- hmmmm time to find a new place for the nanas!
I'd like to put my order in for a cleaning lady too!

All I can say is thankfully I have no window ledges. Yours look pretty tidy to me!

Looks better than mine! Mine is currently rather full of a mint plant that has gone on the rampage! I'm quite frightened of it now!
